LAUREL PARNELL, PhD
Founder, Parnell Institute
Laurel Parnell, Ph.D. is the director of the Parnell Institute and developer of Attachment-focused EMDR. She is an internationally recognized clinical psychologist, author, and leading expert on Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Since 1995 she has trained thousands of clinicians in EMDR both nationally and internationally.
Additionally, Dr. Parnell has also taught EMDR at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco and was core faculty at John F. Kennedy University in the Graduate School for the Study of Human Consciousness. Currently, she teaches EMDR through the Parnell Institute, Alliant International University, Omega Institute, Esalen Institute, ID Institut in Kassel Germany, and the New York Open Center. She is the author of five books on EMDR, including her latest release Attachment-Focused EMDR: Healing Relational Trauma.

KIM COOKSON, PsyD

Dr. Cookson is an EMDRIA-approved Consultant with a private practice that focuses on integrative relational therapy. She relies on EMDR and working somatically to increase resilience and resolve present and past trauma. She is the Trauma Training Director at the Southern California Counseling Center (SCCC). SCCC, a sliding-scale community counseling center which now offers EMDR training to its interns and supervisors and provides EMDR treatment to a highly diverse and economically challenged community.
Dr. Cookson deeply resonated with the attachment focus and the client-centered, collaborative approach. Laurel Parnell’s Modified Protocol and Resource Teams provide an effective structure for deep processing and attachment repair in both private practice and community counseling settings, where the majority of clients present with complex trauma. Kim is also a facilitator and trainer for the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI).
SEAN FRANKINO, LCSW

Sean Frankino is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice in Manhattan, NY where he works with adult individuals and couples. He is an EMDRIA-approved Consultant and is an approved Trainer for the Parnell Institute. His general clinical orientation is relational which privileges the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship. As a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and Assistant at SE trainings he also integrates awareness of the body and sensations into his EMDR practice. Further, he is a trained Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT) and incorporates EMDR and SE into his couples work. He works with performance enhancement, addictions, trauma resulting from experiences of being different, car accidents, violent crimes, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, persistent negative self-states, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and coping with illness and pain.

CONSTANCE KAPLAN, LMFT

Constance Kaplan is an EMDRIA-approved Consultant and maintains a private practice in West Los Angeles. With 22 years of experience, she integrates Attachment-Focused EMDR into a full therapy toolset designed to meet the specific needs of each individual adult client or couple. Her tools include Attachment-Focused EMDR, somatic modalities, couple’s therapy, contemporary psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness work and a sweet, funny, healing canine colleague. She provides individual and group consultation to therapists seeking EMDR Certification, Approved Consultancy and those completing their Basic Training consultation hours.
She is former founding President of the Board of the Trauma Resource Institute and former President of the Association for Psychoanalytic Thought of Southern California. She has served on various trauma relief teams, facilitated TRM trainings and provided onsite trainings to first responders and mental health professionals around the country.
JULIE PROBUS-SCHAD, LCSW
Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience treating individuals, couples, and families. Since completing her Masters in Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, Julie has dedicated herself to empowering people towards health and wholeness. She is a certified EMDR Therapist and a consultant. Julie’s innovative approach to psychotherapy allows the client to develop the necessary skills and insights to optimize wellness. A foundational belief of her practice is that all people have the innateability to heal. Through the utilization of trauma-informed therapies, with an emphasis on healing early relational attachment wounds, Julie specializes in treating PTSD and trauma.In addition to her private practice, Julie is passionate about trauma-informed healing throughout the world. She has trained staff and worked with children in orphanages and children’s homesin South Africa, Peru, India and Nepal utilizing EMDR and the Tapping In®Resourcing Technique founded by Dr. Laurel Parnell. She has worked closely with the Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Program in Monrovia, Liberia, focusing on reintegrating former Child Soldiers into the community. Julie is also a facilitator for the Changing Children’s World Foundation, an attachment based parent education program. She has also donated numerous clinical hours to the Give an Hour Foundation, working with Military Families and Soldiers.
