Gloria Choi, LCSW is a psychotherapist licensed to practice in New York and Connecticut. She has been working in the field of behavioral health since the late 1990’s in both clinical and managerial capacities. Currently she is in private practice and has an office in Long Island City, NY.
Gloria received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Vassar College in 1996 and went on to focus on human behavior and mental health at New York University. She completed her Master of Social Work degree in 2002. Gloria worked intensively as a clinician and supervisor with individuals experiencing various types of post-traumatic stress, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties and cognitive limitations. She works with members of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and bicultural communities. An Asian American born and raised in New York City as a child of Korean immigrants, she is particularly attuned to the experiences of these groups.
Gloria approaches her clinical and professional practice with a growth mindset. Over the course of 25+ years, she has increased her knowledge and experience by working with individuals, teams, programs, agencies and communities. She has evolved her clinical practice by continuing to learn and apply new and additional concepts and philosophies such as self psychology, mindfulness, EMDR and somatic healing, as well as by incorporating her own significant professional experience as a manager, executive and clinical supervisor.
