A Breakdown of What You’ll Observe In This Particular Attachment-Focused EMDR Demonstration Videos
AF-EMDR Video Demonstration #1: Attachment-Focused EMDR for Procrastination With Discussion After Session
This AF-EMDR video session features a woman with parents who immigrated from Korea. She discusses her home environment and how her parents’ unstable marriage and father’s challenging and combative personality left her feeling like her feelings and emotions had nowhere to go.
You’ll witness Dr. Parnell use the bridging technique to see what in her past is presenting in her procrastination fears in the present. In this AF-EMDR video, you’ll witness how a client can do their own interweaves as Dr. Parnell creates space for her to do what she needs to do to process.
AF-EMDR Video Demonstration #2: Attachment-Focused EMDR for a Bridge Phobia PLUS Post-Session Interview One-Year Later
In this AF-EMDR video session, you’ll see Dr. Parnell work with a client who seemingly developed a phobia of driving over bridges “out of nowhere.” You’ll witness Dr. Parnell implement resourcing and tapping to help her client find the source of her anxiety that is causing her limiting behavior.
Throughout the session, Dr. Parnell learns more about how the client’s experience as a fire department counselor in New York during 9/11 is contributing to her anxiety. This is a powerful session full of emotion that illustrates how just talking about a trauma won’t fix the issues because they lie so deeply in the nervous system.
AF-EMDR Video Demonstration #3: Attachment-Focused EMDR for a Fear of Public Speaking
The client in this AF-EMDR video session is a therapist with a fear of public speaking. The anticipatory anxiety she feels leading up to a speaking event causes sleepless nights, and when she gets up to talk, she feels like she can’t think. As a therapist, you may have had clients who experience the very same things!
In this video, you’ll see how the client uses tactile stimulation pulsers for bilateral stimulation and installed resources. You’ll watch Dr. Parnell use the bridging technique to bridge from a recent speaking anxiety example to find a target from her past, process that target to completion, and install positive cognition.
You’ll also see the importance of returning to the bridged incident to check your work together. As Dr. Parnell does this with her client, she finds another area with charge, leading them to bridge a second time. It’s quite an amazing session!
