I consider it a privilege to be able to respond to a need for help. Beginning my career in community mental health (access for all) and moving into my private practice, I have had experience working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and grieving with adults, children, couples, and the LGBTQ community. I specialize in working with people who have a history of trauma, big and small, and related issues. I integrate my psychodynamic and relational training with long- or short-term, problem focused psychotherapeutic work as well as EMDR treatment.
In training to be an AF-EMDR practitioner, I found a new modality to be a wonderful tool that enriches all of the work I do and has provided an opportunity to enhance the connection to self and others that we all crave, to redefine ways to metabolize painful experiences, and to desensitize and reprocess distress. A foundational belief of AF-EMDR is that we naturally move toward health and wholeness. I have found this to be true in all the years of my work and treasure the journey that bears it out.
My treatment approach in all modalities in relational. I believe in, and experience daily, the power of connection – compassionate, collaborative, creative. My focus, above all, is to create a meaningful and therapeutic connection that provides a foundation for the work of diminishing suffering and learning how to navigate each day with a sense of easeful reflection that guides the way. I could not imagine doing anything else.
We all have an innate capacity to heal.
