Virtual EMDR Basic Training: Parts 1 & 2 – Transforming Trauma with EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapeutic method for healing trauma-based problems. In this comprehensive training, participants will learn how to use EMDR in clinical practice. This training includes lecture, small group practice, and demonstrations in a supportive environment. Because this course provides extensive time for practice, participants learn EMDR firsthand and the power of this transformative therapy.

COVID and Virtual 2021 Basic Training
We are among a select group of EMDR trainings approved by EMDRIA to provide Virtual Trainings. Since, the safety of our community is paramount, and until we are advised by trusted experts that it is safe to resume in-person group training sessions, we will hold our EMDR trainings, via Zoom meetings. Our virtual trainings will provide the same curriculum and rich learning experience we are known for.

Those registering need to be prepared to meet via Zoom with reliable and secure access to a computer or tablet device. We will provide you with detailed guidance and preparation to assure a successful training experience.

Through lecture, hands-on practice, and demonstrations, participants will learn:

  • Construct Protocols and procedures for using EMDR with a variety of clients
  • Demonstrate clinical application of EMDR and EMDR concepts and procedural steps
  • Demonstrate client selection criteria and cautions necessary for safe use of EMDR
  • Utilize Resource development and installation in cases of challenging current life situations, blocked beliefs, or for performance enhancement
  • Identify methods for developing inner resources used for interweaves and client closure.
  • Construct EMDR targets using the bridging technique
  • List how to integrate EMDR into clinical practice with a range of clients and presenting problems
  • Utilize Resource development and installation in cases of challenging current life situations, blocked beliefs, or for performance enhancement

This course is limited to mental-health professionals who are licensed to provide treatment in their states, province or country and are currently treating traumatized clients. This course is approved by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). In accordance with EMDRIA standards. Participants wishing to complete the requirements for EMDR Basic Training must complete Parts 1 and 2, receive ten hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved consultant on the Parnell Institute for EMDR faculty, then take Parnell Institute’s EMDR Basic Training Part 3. The entire 3 parts of the virtual training must be completed no later than December 31, 2021 to ensure EMDRIA Approval.

PART 1 & 2 -TUITION:

$1825 USD includes: 40 hours of training: 10 hours didactic includes 10 hours small group consultation and 10 small group hours of supervised practicum EACH weekend, along with training manuals, power points, and daily demonstration. Tuition also includes the cost of 10 Hours of small group consultation by an EMDRIA – Approved Consultant from the Parnell Institute faculty following part 2.

Open book assessment questions will be given to determine mastery of the material and where you need additional support.

40 CE CREDITS is additional and can be purchased from R. Cassidy. Details will be sent via email.: ($40 paid separately to CE provider). See below for license eligibility.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. To register for this training, you must have an active license, certification, or the equivalent, to practice as a mental health professional per the guidelines of your state, province, or country. Interns are not eligible to participate. After completing your registration on this page, you will be asked to submit licensure documentation.
  2. By registering for a training, you acknowledge your understanding that you will be asked to serve as a client in the service of everyone’s learning. **You agree that you are psychologically and physically stable enough to take on a client role in this setting, and that you will do what is needed to take care of yourself if any discomfort arises as a result.
  3. Refund policy: Your registration fee for this program minus a $100 processing fee is refundable up to 60 days before the program begins. If you must cancel after that, no refunds are available, but you may send a qualified colleague in your place.

PARTICIPANT CONSENT

I acknowledge that I have been informed of and understand the following:

  1. During this training, I will be asked to serve as a client, therapist and observer in the service of everyone’s learning.
  2. I agree that I am psychologically and physically stable enough to take on these roles in this setting.
  3. I recognize that serving as a client may cause emotional distress, and that I will do what is needed to take care of myself if any discomfort arises as a result.
  4. In order to receive an attendance certificate and/or CEs for this training, I must attend the full training and sign in and out each day.
  5. If I arrive 15 minutes late or leave 15 minutes early or do not complete the training, I will not be eligible for a refund.
  6. Parnell Institute, LLC reserves the right to determine whether I am eligible to continue the training at any stage.
  7. Although it happens rarely, the Parnell Institute sometimes determines that a participant is not able to participate fully, has not mastered the material adequately, or is too disruptive to continue. If this were to occur, the Parnell Institute would provide an opportunity to remedy the issues and return at a later date. However, I understand that this would be done at my own expense.

Satisfactory Completion
Participants must have paid tuition fee, logged in and out each day, attended the entire webinar, and completed an evaluation to receive a certificate. Failure to log in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.

About the Trainer:

Constance Kaplan is a psychotherapist in private practice in Los Angeles.  She specializes in treating PTSD, Complex Trauma and Early Attachment Trauma with EMDR and somatic modalities integrated into a contemporary and relational psychodynamic practice. Ms. Kaplan is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Faculty, Approved Consultant and Senior Trainer for EMDR Basic Training Parts 1, 2 and 3 at the world- renown Parnell Institute. She has trained clinicians around the country and has facilitated with Dr. Parnell in the United States, Singapore and Malaysia. Ms. Kaplan was Keynote presenter and Master Class instructor at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Parnell Institute Innovations in EMDR Conference held at 1440 Multiversity, Scotts Valley, California, Omega Institute, Rhinebeck, New York and in San Francisco. She is a contributing author for Dr. Parnell’s newest book, Rewiring the Addicted Brain: An EMDR – Based Treatment Model for Overcoming Addictive Disorders, 2018.
