Dr. Betsy Halsey, PsyD, has been a licensed psychologist since 2004, and is in private practice in Rockville, MD (serving the greater DC metro area). She is a Consultant and Facilitator for the Parnell Institute and an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant. She works with a wide range of therapeutic issues and specializes in working with people with complex and attachment traumas and those who struggle with sex/porn addictions. Prior to entering private practice she worked in VA hospitals with veterans with PTSD, as well as in long-term residential facilities for addictions and other mental disorders. She uses a client-centered, integrative approach to help individuals and couples achieve healing and wholeness.
Dr. Halsey sees her life’s work as a ministry of transformation. In her early professional life, she worked with social advocacy organizations to effect change on a state and national level. She then served as an ordained clergyperson for 10 years, believing that lasting change would come only as individuals’ hearts and minds were transformed. Realizing that many people experience blocks that keep them from being who they really want to be, she found her home as a psychologist, helping individuals transform their lives. She finds EMDR to be an especially effective modality that is inherently respectful of a person’s own inner wisdom and spirituality. She enjoys working with clients to transform their trauma, as well as sharing her experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to help other therapists develop and fine-tune the transformative practice of EMDR.
