While we all long for relational connections, significant and seemingly benign events impact our ability to thrive in relationships. As part of my research for my dissertation, I learned the effects of insensitive messages that betrayed and traumatized individuals receive from mental health professionals when they seek professional guidance to help them navigate relational trauma. Therefore, my passion is to empower individuals with the tools to grow beyond their traumatic experiences through empathic demystification of their circumstances and resilience building. In my work with individuals who seek healing from relationally traumatic experiences, I have had the privilege to bear witness to the resilience of the human spirit growing in the face of complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction. In my nearly ten years of practice as a clinical mental health practitioner, my approach with clients has been authentic, empathic, and professional.

Through my ongoing training and consultation in attachment-focused EMDR, my clients have benefited from working through the pain and shame of discovering a relational betrayal as well as the impacts of sex addiction. Incorporating EMDR in relation-centered psychotherapy has created safety, empowering my client to become more aware of their physiological, psychological, social, and emotional wounds. Upon request, I incorporate existential and spiritual beliefs in the therapeutic process.

As the founder of Safe Space Mental Health Counseling, I prioritize the focus of my work with betrayed partners and couples. I am trained by the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts (APSATS) and the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals (IITAP) with ongoing consultations with professionals invested in providing hope and healing from addiction and trauma to all individuals. My work is done in person or virtually as requested and available.
