I provide psychotherapy to adults and couples. In addition to talk therapy, I incorporate aspects of somatic work, which is mindful attention to what is held non-verbally in the body. If you are interested in somatic work, we will together explore patterns in the body, whether from trauma or other life experiences, that may be impacting you in the present. Clients often tell me that learning to pay attention to the body provides an additional path toward healing that talk therapy alone has not.
I often see clients to explore adjustments to various changing circumstances, low mood, depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, fertility, grief, and PTSD. In addition to my private practice, I see clients for somatic work at a multidisciplinary trauma treatment program for adults experiencing trauma symptoms interrupting their daily lives.
Previously, I worked for over ten years in the field of domestic and international adoption with prospective parents, new parents, multi-racial families, birth mothers, and adoptees, and spent many years working with foster children who were victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. In addition, I worked with youth in the role of school therapist. I have presented in the community numerous times on the subjects of adoption, foster care, and infertility. I earned my Master’s Degree (MSW) from UCLA in 1999 and became licensed as an LCSW in 2001. I draw primarily from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Integrative Body Psychotherapy, and EMDR, all of which are somatic practices and principles. My office is set in nature and is surrounded by calming mountain views. Covid friendly practices are in place.
I am married and have two wonderful children and a dog. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and breathing in fresh mountain and ocean air.
