Prior to her recent return to New York, Mary was part of the clinical team at Resolutions Treatment Center, an esteemed adult outpatient program in Santa Monica, CA, where she worked as a Primary Therapist and Trauma Therapist. Prior to this, she served as the Trauma Therapist at Promises Malibu Vista, a nationally respected trauma-focused residential treatment center for women, in Malibu, CA, where she developed the trauma program during the six years of the center’s existence. In addition, Mary worked as a Trauma Therapist at Bridges to Recovery, a luxury residential treatment center, in Pacific Palisades, CA. Prior to her work in Southern California, Mary worked at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center’s psychiatric hospital in Berkeley, CA, for eight years, in both the inpatient and outpatient program with diverse patient populations. She served as Program Director and Main Therapist for a variety of adult and adolescent programs. While working in the outpatient program, Mary conducted trauma consultations for both her patients and colleagues and initiated a department-wide training in Trauma Resiliency to prevent burnout and secondary traumatization.
Mary is very passionate about her work in the field of trauma and the body. Her enthusiasm, optimism and infectious sense of hope have been a comfort to hundreds of clients she has worked with over the years. Combining a real curiosity, compassionate exploration and a sense of humor, Mary helps clients identify and understand their issues and works with them to create a plan for healing. Mary believes that it is never too late to be curious about one’s self, to discover the resiliency of your body and the strength of your spirit to aid in the healing process.
Mary received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a specialization in Somatic Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA.
Mary currently maintains a full-time private practice in New York City where she works with adults in short and long-term psychotherapy.
