Bio
I orient my work as a therapist from a strength-based perspective. This means that in helping clients address the issues that impact them in a negative way, I also help clients identify their strengths and empower them to affect the changes they want to make as we work together.
I believe we are all part of a larger system: we are members of a family, a community, the larger culture and the world. In each of these contexts, we are influenced by interactions, assumptions and beliefs. In turn, we also have an influence on these systems. We matter, we have impact. We engage. We participate. Part of my job is to help clients see more clearly the ways they participate in the various dimensions of their lives.
I specialize in treating couples, families and individuals who have been or currently are impacted by a family member or other loved one’s substance abuse/addiction. Because addiction and trauma are so closely linked, my work is attachment focused. I strive to educate clients about relational trauma and how that informs their attachment style. I invite clients to explore how EMDR works and how it can enhance and deepen their healing.
