Karen is a Trauma and Addiction Therapist in private practice specializing in the areas of sex addiction (CSAT), betrayal trauma, love addiction, enmeshment, co-dependency, and complex developmental trauma. Karen works with clients to enhance self-awareness and skill building to help clients’ move through life’s challenges. In her addiction work, Karen treats not only the behavioral elements but works with client’s to identify and resolve underlying trauma. Trauma resolution is a key component to achieving long-term sobriety. Karen works with individuals, couples, groups, and leads intensive workshops.
Karen is an EMDRIA approved EMDR therapist trained through the Parnell Institute and is working towards certification (advanced training). Karen is also working towards Attachment Focused EMDR certification. Along with EMDR, Karen is Sensorimotor Trained (Level 2) where the body is a central component of talk therapy.
Karen also trained with Patrick Carnes at the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), along with Pia Mellody completing Post Induction Therapy (PIT). Additionally, She is a member of the Healing Trauma Network (healingtraumanetwork.net), a site for clinicians with advanced Pia Mellody training who are dedicated to implementing and promoting her frame-work, an effective approach to recovery from childhood trauma and codependency.
With a client-centered approach, understanding that each client is unique, Karen’s variety of trainings and modalities allows her the flexibility to to align with clients, in a way that feels safe and authentic as they move through a healing journey.
