I am a psychotherapist with 30+ years of experience in mental and public health. My career started at the Ministery of Health in Peru, my country of origin, working as a Clinical Psychologist for about 20 years. Upon moving to the USA fifteen years ago, while working at the Sonoma County Social Services Department, I noticed a shortage of bilingual/bicultural therapists and a higher need of them. This awarness motivated me to get a Marriage and Family Therapist license to use my clinical experience and serve my new community. My qualifications include: Bilingual, bicultural (Spanish-English), proficiency in multicultural, ethnic and racial issues. I am certified in Child Mental Health by Sonoma State University and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I completed the EMDR levels 1, 2, & 3; currently taking the EMDRIA approved consultation through Parnell Institute with senior trainer Constance Kaplan, LMFT toward certification. I also completed Gottman’s Couples Therapy levels 1 & 2 and the Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) training.
In my clinical practice, I provide a compassionate perspective to assist my clients in working through disturbing emotions, senseless defenses and/or unhealthy habits that impact their functioning. In a collaborative and tailored environment, I support clients through a self-discovery journey, tapping into their inner resources to heal early emotional injuries. My clients are also encouraged and led towards a transformative personal development process with lasting personal growth. Throught the years, I have been supporting individuals, couples and families dealing with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Mood Disorders, Domestic Violence (DV), Relationships and Life-Transitions issues, applying Evidence-Based Culturally Appropriate, Psycho-Integrative Techniques, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Family therapies.
My journey within the mental health field started almost four decades ago, searching tools to heal trauma from child abuse. This process taught me that to examine oneself through a therapeutic lens is challenging, but it is also a liberating, healing experience that will positively shift your life. I know this since therapy enabled me to break an intergenerational chain of Domestic Violence and achieve a continuous personal wellness.
Please contact me or refer someone for therapeutic consultation. I look forward to answering your inquiries!
