Alissa Blackman is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, a Certified EMDR therapist and Somatic Psychotherapist specializing in integrating body, mind and spirit. She supports clients in recovery from trauma, attachment trauma, chronic pain and headaches. She offers a supportive, warm presence so clients can transform ingrained patterns and build new capacities. After working for over a decade as a massage therapist, Alissa studied Counseling Psychology (Somatics) at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has worked extensively with Bill Bowen, training in Psycho-Physical Therapy, and feels passionate about integrating body-mind-spirit healing into EMDR resourcing and processing. She taught Somatic Psychology at CIIS and worked in community mental health as a Therapist and Mental Health Educator/Advocate supporting at-risk youth. She loves to support clients in discovering (or rediscovering) their strengths and living a more vibrant, joyful life. She is an approved EMDR consultant and offers individual and group EMDR consultation to therapists who have been trained by the Parnell Institute.
