Bio
My name is Amy Allerheiligen and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist serving children, teens and adults in Marin County. My specialty is helping clients of all ages process and heal from trauma and adverse life experiences. These are experiences that happened earlier in life that may have been overwhelming to the brain and nervous system and created false, negative core beliefs about oneself, others, and the world. These are beliefs such as “I’m not good enough”, “I can’t trust people” and “I am not safe” and can significantly impact how a person feels, thinks and reacts to the world. They can also lead to longer term problems such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I use a specialized therapy called EMDR to help clients process those experiences and transform negative beliefs into positive, helpful ones. This opens up new and exciting doors for clients to live with more joy and ease, to feel more satisfied and connected in their relationships, and to reach their full human potential.
